Pond Field

Since the last book was published, the appearance of the Pond Field has changed dramatically. The football pitch has been in use for about ten years. In that time many finals under the auspicies of the Inishowen League have been played there. Clonmany Shamrocks Football Club are to be congratulated on their upkeep of the playing surface. First class dressing rooms are now in place and also stores for holding machinery and tools. A shelter for fans has also been erected. At the moment it is without doubt one of the best appointed football grounds in Donegal.

When St. Brigid's Youth Club was founded, one of their first priorities was to find a suitable site for a new Sports Centre. After much thought is was agreed that the piece of ground beside the dressing rooms in the Pond Field would be ideal. The Pond Field Trustees gladly signed over the said ground to the Youth Club Committee.

So this year saw the beginning of a new exciting development in the Pond Field. Anyone who has seen the scale of the new building cannot but be impressed with the plans of a very hard working committee in the Youth Club. The Festival Committee wish them every success.

We hope in years to come, further projects will be planned for the Pond Field for the benefit of the community and so make it the sporting centre of our parish.
