One of my ancestors ,an Edward Doherty moved into Derry city some time in the 1830s or 40s.I have heard he was from Clomany and the urris area.He was married to a Mary Devlin who I believe was also from Clomany. They had a large family and their grandsons all worked in the slaughter house in Derry as butchers and were all given nicknames;the judge ,the jew, the tugaroo, the soldier and the stall ,neilly wack and nedy's back and stim against the wall...".I would love to find out where they were from in Clomany.A few years ago in Derry somebody told me the family had been traced to a particular townland but I have not been able to find any info and I have written to the O'Dochartaigh centre but they were in transit and I got no reply.I wonder are there any records of Edward Doherty and Mary Devlin.I would appreciate any help.
