Placenames Cloontagh is a large irregular shaped townland on the left of the main Clonmany to Buncrana road. A quarter of the land is arable and the remainder is rough mountain grazing. It was once known as Monyclohine. It consists of six villages or parts - Cloontagh, Lackan, Ard, Gorteenreagh, Magheramore, Sracummer. Cloonta / Cluainteach - Meadowlands
