This Sunday is the Fourth of the Easter Season. It is also Good Shepherd Sunday and Vocations Sunday. When Jesus called Himself the Good Shepherd, He was not insulting us by calling His followers sheep. He was telling us that, like a Good Shepherd, He will guide and guard His flock; that we can trust Him. This Sunday we pray for all those who are called to the priesthood and religious life. We ask Jesus, the Good Shepherd, to help and guide them as they do their best to live out their vocation. We pray also for those whose vocation is to marriage or single life.
